New Look

Well, we hope you like the new look and platform we’ve been working behind the scenes on for months. It’s going to be a great thing with tons of bells and whistles as we grow.
That said, we might have a quirk or two or five on the site since going live. Feel free to bug us about it and we’ll get it fixed as fast as our little fingers can type.  Thanks for your patience!

Now for the important stuff, with this fading behind us I can add new products…wooooooooooo!

BTW, if you went to SD Comic Con let’s hear about it.  We missed it this year and need a fix.

How do you watch TV now?

1) Binge streaming.

2) What’s a TV?

3) One episode a week, that’s the way I grew up.

4) DVR

5) I wait for the episodes to come out on DVD/Blu-ray.

6) TV?  I play video games!

I won’t lie, I do some binging, but with kids it’s not always the shows I want.

Worst Movie Openings

As far as I can tell these types of stats have been kept the past 3 decades or so and do you know what the worst weekend openings have been?  There’s always the odd movie no one has heard of, but would you have put these in your top 5?  Hoot, The Seeker, Strange Magic each grossing no more than 3-5 million.  Proof that a great book, TV series or even the creator of Star Wars is not immune to take a hit when the offering is lacking.

Just to put that into perspective a good opening can easily see a movie gain $50 million like Jurassic Park III or Independence Day to $200 million like The Avengers.

Not criticizing the financial disasters mind you it is America, and we can throw money away with the best of em.  Plus these all made more than my movie.  Can’t believe no one wants the story of my life.  Sad really.

Thanks to Box Office Mojo for keeping stats that are fun and informative on this subject.

New Arrivals

FYI, we’re switching soon to a new layout for our site which is pretty exciting, but has slowed our process for adding new items.  That said I’ve snuck some in under the radar.  Most are in the New Products section, but here’s a highlight-

Featured are tons of prop license plates from your favorite TV shows and film.  Wands from a certain wizarding world.  Cool wallets and hats from SHIELD and HYDRA.  Even some Assassin’s Creed and Forbidden Planet stuff.  Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Vikings make an appearance too.  We hope you have as much fun buying as we do bringing it to you.

If Agent Coulson can pass along his ID just for your use, it would be rude to decline don’t you think?

Lastly, we do our very best to keep everything in stock (nearly 90%).  The real world functions a bit differently though and we appreciate your patience on the rare occasion an item is not immediately available.

Who should be the next Indiana Jones?

With all the recent speculation on casting the much anticipated continuation of Dr. Jones adventures we got to thinking- this guy is a real man’s man, not something we see as much of any more and frankly miss.  Who could play Indie today?

1) Chris Pratt

2) Shia Labeouf

3) Zac Efron

4) Jeremy Renner

5) Robert Pattinson

6) Jonathan Rhys Meyers

7) Josh Hutcherson

8) Hunter Parrish

9) Chiwetel Ejiofor

10) Chris Hemsworth

11) Still gotta be Harrison Ford

I still have a soft spot for Harrison, sort of like Sean Connery being Bond.  You just can’t go wrong.  Then again you can’t go on forever either.  My short list would be Pratt, Renner, Rhys Meyers and Ejiofor.

Local Party

Well it seems like one.  If you’re in the Atlanta area and more specifically can get to Conyers (about 30 minutes due east) we’re having our annual warehouse sale with items up to 60% off this Saturday the 16th from 8-4.  A lot of samples, one-offs, prototypes, slightly damaged, discontinued, overstock, slow movers, well you get the idea.  It’s a once a year opportunity to get that prop, accessory or costume you’ve been wanting and waiting to act on.

We hope to see you there.  If anyone asks, I’m the one in the kilt and I’m going regimental!
